| What is the The Action Program for Multi-Generation Houses? |

|
The Federal Minister Ursula von der Leyen set up the „Action Program for Multi-Generation Houses“ in 2006. The government supports 500 multi-generation houses – spread all over Germany. These are places where young and old can enjoy everyday life together. There you can balance family and job, nurture children from an early age, give elderly people significant tasks and qualify for your (re-)entry to the world of work.
Enhancing Skills
Each age has its own contribution to make. This potential is embraced and used to the full in the multi-generation houses. Nobody is too old to learn. Hence different skills are promoted and developed – in the community as in social situations. In particular, people from the neighbourhood are the ones who are especially able to convey knowledge and are eager to share their wealth of experience.
Central Concept
The central concept derives from the mother’s centres, therefore we encourage this development and awarded the Federal Minister Ursula von der Leyen the award “ Honorary Praktissima 2008”.
